Topsy Turvy America

We are back from Korea, and we had a great time exploring Seoul and visiting our friends The Lees. (Much more on our trip in coming posts).

The day we left, we had this funny little experience just before catching the airport bus. We noticed that the Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel (which is right here on our little Rokko Island) had made a little mistake in its flag hoisting that day.

Oops.

The funniest thing, though, was that after Mike pointed it out to Jacob and Lauren, they decided to inform the appropriate hotel staff. Jacob and Lauren went up to the lobby to tell them. Apparently, the exchange went something like - "Can I help you?". "Yes, the American Flag is upside down." "Really - thanks for telling us." Mere seconds later, a mortified manager and two bellhops came out, each running to confirm that the error. Minutes later, after much hang-wringing and scurrying about, the flag was re-hoisted, this time right-side-up.
